Holy Crap

I've been really good with keeping the panic level to a minimum throughout this whole pregnancy, but this past Monday, I became "full-term" and as the doc says - could deliver any day now. BRING ON THE HYSTERICS!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the whole motherhood thing - mostly because I just can't wait to dress her up and do all that fun stuff that moms get to do - but holy freakin' crap - I've got to GIVE BIRTH first!!!! I'm totally ready for this baby belly to be gone (back aches, late night dance parties in my stomach, acid reflux, and crazy pelvic pressure will not be missed) - but the methods by which it could/will be removed has me freaking out every time I feel the slightest tinge of pain that could signal the beginning of labor. I know millions of women have done it since the beginning of time - so what makes me so different? I don't know...but it certainly didn't help that one talk during General Conference was devoted to a list of women who had either died in child birth or lost a child during child birth...(I really hope the Lord wasn't trying to tell me something)...yeah, seriously, did not help with the nerves AT ALL.

I know everyone gets nervous....it's a BIG, life changing event and from what I've heard, a wee bit on the painful side. I've already decided on getting an epidural...I'm not nuts...so the pain is not what is freaking me out...it's more the something going wrong that has me chewing my fingernails day in and day out. Sigh. I'd say I would be like Pam on The Office, refusing to go to the hospital under the guise of some other excuse...only to be actually scared to death about what is to come....but I'm more afraid of having my baby in the toilet at home ala I Didn't Know I was Pregnant to put off going to the hospital for too long after labor begins -- in fact, I'll probably go in too early.

Erick is a total trooper...he just laughs at me when I have my little "moments"...which actually makes me feel better...because I know he'll be there and if he can keep me laughing through labor and delivery, I think I may just keep him around. Granted, it's easy for him to laugh and make jokes because he's not getting poked, prodded, and ultimately emitting another human out of his body, but as they say, laughter is the best medicine....so bring on your funny (NOT YOUR SCARY...seriously folks, it's not cool to do that to someone) pregnancy and labor and delivery stories. (Crystal - your little Edna Mode nurse is currently my fav.) I want to be laughing all the way to the delivery room...hmmmm....I wonder if I can download episodes of I Didn't Know I was Pregnant - that one where the lady has a baby in her pants is pretty darn amusing.

You'll get through it with some funny/crazy stories to share whenever the topic comes up. And then you'll forget about those stories just long enough to want to do it again! :)

"You too far for deep breathing to work. You gotta Hee hee who! I'm not hearing hee hee who! Daddy, you help her hee hee who!" That triage nurse was a highlight for me.

With Riley, Cheyenne knew almost everyone who was delivering me. The anesthesiologist was like "Do you want to help me HM2 Culp?" I was like "NO! He wants to help me! The lady having the baby!"

I had the same fears. I was scared Ainsley would come early, I was scared something crazy would happen. Then Cheyenne blocked TLC from our cable and I eased up a bit. I was watching too much baby story. XD

You'll do fine and I'm very excited for you!

I went to HS with Erick. I just had my 6th baby. Things that my not seem as funny now will be later. For example, with 2 of our kids, #1 and #4, My hubby got light headed, #1 because he was overwhelmed and #4 from not wanting to eat in front of me, since I couldn't. Everything was fine, but I still think it's funny :) You'll be fine and it's okay to be nervous. I was still nervous something was going to go SERIOUSLY wrong with my 6th one, 2 months ago :)

my mom has a pretty good one. while she was having me the nurse was getting on her nerves badly. my mom wanted to use the bathroom and the nurse kept telling her to get back in bed. my mom locked her out and while the nurse was talking to her to try to persuade her to let her back in the room my mom did a little childish thing that makes me laugh. she was mocking the nurse behind the door with a little "nahnahnahnaha"
